When I finished this book I had to seriously sit for a minute and just take it all in. I had to wrap my head around all the thoughts that were flying around. I don't read very many dark erotic novels but this is definitely one of those. It was messed up in so many ways.. but in a way it made it good because it was about completely flawed characters. Let me warn you though.... if you can't handle dark, controlling, forceful, unwilling encounters then this book isn't for you.
We start with Alex who has just had to bury her mother. She is filled with so much grief that she doesn't know how to control it. We soon find out that over the years her step-brother has raped her but for some reason she is able to find pleasure to an extent. She fears him but is scared to say anything.
We also meet Rafe. He has come back for revenge and wants Alex to suffer after all he has been through. Let me be honest. It is hard to read some of the things that Rafe puts Alex through. It is torture that no human should have to experience. He breaks her down and only wants the truth in return.
The truth comes out and Rafe has been thrown off his axis. It wasn't what he was expecting and now is not sure how to handle the situation. But, the step-brother comes back into the picture and things don't go very smoothly.
It does have a cliffhanger ending that will leave you hurting. I can't figure out what will happen next and how things will be revealed after the shocking ending! .... WOW!
