Determinism

By: LK Collins

Book two in the Life. Destiny. Fate Series
Each book can be read as a stand-alone!!!

Synopsis

At what point do you stop fighting the events that have long been predetermined by the course of fate?

Cara Savannah falls fast and falls hard. She always has. The problem is the kind of guys she falls for. They aren't interested in anything more than a one night stand. Finally fed up with the years of heartache and lack of meaningful relationships, she vows to turn over a new leaf. Cara is going to let love take a backseat and focus on herself.  Most importantly- no more tattooed bad boys. The question is, how long can she manage to evade what fate has orchestrated for her?

Abel Mileski is every bit your typical bad boy on the exterior, but life’s left him broken and jaded. After years of meaningless sex with girls only seeing him for his good looks and tattoos, he sees no value within himself. Ready for a change, he shuts down his desires and immerses himself in his career. However, when fate intervenes, he is completely unprepared. Meeting Cara ignites his desires. She’s not fazed by his ink, and when he tries to charm her, he fails... Stunned by her instant dislike of him, he is determined to find out why.

After months of sexual tension, they make a decision that will forever change their lives. Will that decision be what ultimately wrecks them or brings them back together?

My Review:

Stars: 4

Determinism – what you need to get what you want. Abel gets a call from his brother to go to the movies and his brother’s girlfriend will be bringing along her best friend Cara. This is the last thing he wants to do at that moment but as long as the best friend is hot he will go. Of course, Cara is HOT and instantly Abel is drawn to her and wants to spend more time with her.

Cara is so tired of the same old guys that always end up breaking her heart. She is determined to stay away from the tattooed guys and try to become attracted to a different type. When she sees Abel for the first time though, the attraction is unbearable. She is determined though, no matter how much he tries to charm her she will not give into his games.

I struggled with my ‘like’ of Cara at first because she was so determined not to be interested in Abel no matter how hard he came at her. I know she was just trying to protect herself and her heart but the attraction was so intense that she should have given him a chance sooner that she did. I didn’t like how she tried to feel something and be attracted to Ben.

Abel was determined though…. He wanted to prove to Cara that they were meant to be together and I loved how they started with the friends and transitioned from there. Friendship is a good foundation for a healthy relationship so I think that helped Cara open up to Abel more and truly see the person he was and not the heartbreaking scum she had envisioned in her head. Although their journey is not completely without trials I loved how they grew together. They were both unsure of their feelings or how to tell the other how they felt. They learned from their mistakes and depended on each other. I will say I was upset with Abel at one point in the story but no guy is completely perfect so I have to let his error slide and love him anyway. You know from his past that he has fears too and it’s sometimes hard to look past those and realize what you have right in front of you.

You can’t really go wrong with this book. The attraction and sexual tension is off the charts along with the physical aspect of their relationship. Abel is a sexy, tattooed firefighter so you can only imagine the images that will come to your mind while reading. This is definitely a book to add to your “to be read” list!
